A new company called Heatable has hit the ground running in Kittery. This online based business was established for customers to easily order affordable oil with just one simple click. Although headquartered in Kittery they deliver across the seacoast region and have been advertised as, “the smart way to manage your home heating oil”. Local residents have caught on to this business and are rapidly ordering Heatable’s affordable and fast delivering oil through their website or nifty mobile app.
Apart from admiring their ingenious business model, we’re highlighting Heatable in this blog post because they have made it their own mission to give back to local nonprofits. It was through the most recent Giving Tuesday that Heatable connected with us in search of a way to benefit Fair Tide’s work.
Giving Tuesday is a spectacular global holiday. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving millions participate in a charitable act of their choosing. “Giving Tuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving.” Following Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday provides an avenue for people to step away from consumerism and put their resources toward good causes.
David Simmons, Heatable crew leader proposed an idea that would raise funds for Fair Tide’s One Warm Night campaign while also spreading the word about their business on social media. On the morning of Giving Tuesday David posted the following on Heatable’s Facebook page:
“The holidays can feel like they’re all about spending 💸 but this week at Heatable we’re all in on #giving 🎁. Help us bring the heat for those in need by tagging your bestie that needs to know about Heatable and for every 5 tags or comments we’ll donate $31 (enough to house one person in need for one night*) to the Fair Tide “One Warm Night” campaign. Help us spread the word and share the warmth this holiday season! 🎄 *up to two weeks of warmth”
Almost immediately the comments poured in with over 200 individuals tagged! This far exceeded the number needed for Heatable to make their donation of two weeks of warm nights to Fair Tide! It’s generous companies like Heatable that help Fair Tide make a difference in the community. When business and nonprofits join together real change can be made. Thank you, Heatable!
