Landlord Engagement Initiative
Incentives for landlords who rent to households with rental vouchers.
Program Overview
Housing vouchers are one critical tool that allows low-income households the ability to afford rent in today’s market. The demand for this resource is extreme, with upwards of 25,000 households on the waitlist. Unfortunately, those who are able to access a rental voucher find it nearly impossible to find a landlord who is willing to accept it. This struggle often ends with the household losing the voucher and finding themselves back at square one. In 2019, Fair Tide launched the Landlord Engagement Initiative (LEI) as another avenue to creating permanent, affordable housing. LEI helps address the housing voucher issue by offering landlords various incentives in exchange for renting to a household with a voucher.
Through participating, landlords and property managers are not only providing someone a foundation for success, but will enjoy benefits such as guaranteed rent through a federally funded program, sign on bonus, coverage through a damage loss mitigation fund, and a direct line to Fair Tide’s case manager should any issues arise.
LEI Incentives
- Up to $2,000 in enrollment and lease-up incentives per unit
- Risk mitigation fund for damages above and beyond the security deposit
- $250 referral bonus
- Support from our case manager for both the tenant and the landlord
- Guaranteed rent through the rental voucher
